Beijing Photo Gallery - Forbidden City #3

I looked back at the Hall of Preserving Harmony. I can understand why authorities need to put a limit on the number of visitors every day.

After a break, join the crowds again to continue the 2nd half of the journey.

The Hall of Mental Cultivation sits in a more intimate setting. Gone were the large squares and open spaces. Here, you can peek through the interiors of a few buildings to get a sense of how the priviledged lived in the dynastic days.

The Manchus were the last rulers of imperial China. Being a minority group, they had their own language, which was visible on signs across the Forbidden City.

Heading back out, I arrive at yet another grand space with the Palace of Heavenly Purity behind it.

Not all the signs in here are bilingual though, so you need to go looking around to spot them.
