Dalian Sightseeing Tower is perched on a hill overlooking the city. At a height of 190m, it opened in 1987 and costed a mere USD$10 million to build. I had a bit of difficulty finding the entrance after getting off the bus. Visitors can opt to take a cable car ride up instead.
A sidestreet leads to the sloping road that heads up to the tower. The ticket counter is actually mid-way uphill in a standalone hut just off the road.
Dalian is a bit more laid-back than other large Chinese cities. There are still a lot of construction projects, and the view from up here shows just how big the city has become.
