Bur Dubai Photo Gallery

Bur Dubai is the oldest section of the city, with many lowrise traditional buildings and wind towers. Just a short walk from the abra terminal is a long pedestrianized market street known as the textile souk.

The bustling creek is just a short walk away.

Within the textile souk, Hindi Lane is a bit hard to find but the colours are instantly recognizable. There are many small Indian shops selling flowers, religious items, and more.

The Dubai Museum occupies the former Al Fahidi Fort, which was built in 1788 to defend Dubai from bedouin raids. It now charges a modest admission fee but the underground section is well worth the money with many exhibits on traditional life.

Wind towers were used in the old days as natural air-conditioning units. They are open on all 4 sides and channel breezes into the building.
