Hong Kong Photo Gallery - Kam Tin

Kat Hing Wai was built 500 years ago just outside Yuen Long. It is still home to the Tang clan, a Hakka group. While some of the old houses have been replaced with modern buildings, the village walls are still intact.

A traditional worshipping altar sits in an older building at the end of the corridor.

Besides the historic village, the surrounding areas have modern structures as well.

Wing Lung Wai

North of the main street and mixed within the villages, a tree has taken over a building that was believed to be either a temple or study hall. Due to piracy, the government during the Qing Dynasty ordered coastal residents to evacuate inland, and this house's owner left the area, allowing nature to reclaim it.
