Early Afternoon FlightWith a scheduled departure at 1450, it wasn't such a tough day to wake up early to get to the airport. Although I've seen VN planes parked right at the terminal before, this time we had to take a bus out to the tarmac. Boarding was quite efficient as 2 staircases were deployed.

Delayed DepartureWe pushed back about half an hour later than scheduled for our 2.5 hour flight to Ho Chi Minh City. However, the beautiful views as we turned south around Lamma Island was well worth it.

Decent Meal ServiceThe lunch tasted quite good actually. The sauce was delicious, although a bit spicey, and the salad was OK as well. |

A Cloudy DescentThere wasn't much going on outside after the meal service and soon we descended beneath the clouds into a sprawling metropolis.

Service SummaryNot much in terms of smiles from the crew. Given the low price and the short flight, don't expect much from Vietnam Airlines. There wasn't any in-flight entertainment either, so it was an on-and-off sleep to pass the time. Nevertheless, I got to where I wanted to go safely and there were no major delays. |
