Love Pier & Harbour

The northern section of harbourfront has been partially converted into an arts district. Pier 2 Art Centre opened in 2001 and occupies former railhouses with many pedestrian paths and the light rail running alongside.

Closer to the harbourfront, this section of gritty buildings has been partially renovated into a leisure zone with many shops and restaurants.

The 2-storey Banana Pier was formerly a warehouse to store bananas. Built in 1963, the fall of the banana industry led to repurposing.

While the buildings are used for different means today, the harbour area is still active.

New developments have also appeared at the mouth of the Love River, with a new light rail station making access easier.
