Lisbon Photo Gallery - Public Transport

Lisbon has a large fleet of historic small trams that navigate through the narrow and hilly streets. The ride is bumpy and they are loud, but the trip is very enjoyable and is a must-do when visiting the city. Remember to take route 28 through the historic centre! You will need to use the tram at some point when visiting the historic centre's neighbourhoods, and I took advantage by seeking locations to photograph these vehicles against the historic cityscape.

There is also a fleet of newer modern trams like in other European cities.

I didn't have much opportunity to ride the buses other than getting to and from the airport. Given the many narrow alleys in the historical parts, taking a sightseeing bus won't help you explore the city centre.

Carris is Lisbon's public transport operator with a history that goes back to 1872. I had a great time visiting their museum with a variety of older vehicles on display. Stop by for a look on your way to/from Belém's attractions.
