Toledo Photo Gallery - Part 2

The Cathedral was built on the site of a mosque in the 13th century in Gothic style. Taking some 250 years to build, its interiors are decorated with Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque works.

Toledo's historic centre was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986.

I then continued west towards the other end of town and towards the river.

The Franciscan Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes was intended to be the burial place of monarchs Isabel and Ferdinand, but their bodies were eventually sent to Granada after the Moors were expelled there in the late 15th century.

Behind the Puerta Del Cambrón is a terrace overlooking the river.

I headed across the San Martin bridge hoping for a grand view of Toledo.

However, I couldn't find that famous postcard vantage point, and since I was rushing through my day trip, I didn't have time to look for it further uphill.
