Nuremberg Christmas Market Photo Gallery

Nuremberg's Christkindlesmarkt was first recorded in writing in the 17th century. After the Old Town was destroyed in WW2, the market re-opened in 1948 and now operates across multiple locations in the city's historic centre in the month leading up to Christmas.

Gingerbread is famous here and has been baked for over 6 centuries. With ample forests nearby that provide honey for the bakers, some 70 million are produced here annually.

Although inland and far from the sea, this stall sells fish burgers for a different fare from the traditional sausages, gingerbread, and hot wine.

Decorate your Christmas tree with all sorts of delicate ornaments.

Hot wine is the Christmas Market drink to have. The alcohol is still there. You can smell it as you hang the glass below your nose. The price isn't expensive, and you can get the deposit back on the cup.

The fruitcake here is not so sweet and refreshingly delicious.

These candles are so cute you don't want to burn them.

Wood figurines are delicately-made and surprisingly not expensive.
