Introduction
Dividing the district of Gangnam from east and west, the commercial area of Teheran Valley (or Teheranno in Korean) came to be in 1977 in Gangnam-gu. When the mayor of Teheran, Iran visited Korea that year, the government of Iran suggested that Seoul and Teheran exchange the name of streets as a friendly measure of peace. Consequently, Samseungno (or Samseung Road) became Teheran Valley.
Teheran Valley, the Silicon Valley of Korea, began to attract companies and businessmen since the late 1990's when computer start-up companies, dot-COM's and IT and internet-related venture companies made the move to Teheranno in order to share information and communicate easily as a collective.
