Around Amoy Street

Amoy Street and its surroundings have a number of restored shophouses, temples, and hawker stands.

Thian Hock Keng Temple was built in 1839 by the Hokkien community, who dedicated it to Mazu, the Goddess of the Sea. Migrants from southern China would come here to give thanks for their safe passage.

Restored and repainted shophouses line the side streets.
