Yeosu Photo Gallery

Yeosu is a long way from Seoul even by high-speed trains. 3 hours after leaving Yongsan, I arrive at the quiet and small Yeosu-Expo station. The city hosted the 2012 World Expo and the remnants are just next door.

A huge moving animated screen greets visitors walking into town from the station. I was looking for dinner and there were very few restaurants and actually not much in the surrounding buildings. Like the Olympics, sustainability of the facilities should feature prominently after the event.

I thought I saw you in Shanghai.

Hard to believe it is just shortly past dinner time and the city has mostly gone to sleep.

The fish market was closing but the seafood remained in the tanks, so I walked around to see what the ocean provided.

Abalone porridge is one of my favourite Korean seafood dishes and it does not cost an arm and a leg for one.

Dried seafood is also on sale here in case you need some flavouring for your dishes.

The turtle ship is a uniquely Korean piece of military equipment. Yeosu was a major naval base that fought off the Japanese in the 16th century.

Yeosu has several city centres. This one by the harbour has a few streets of shopping and some interesting specialty stores. Care to buy some traditional Korean clothes or visit the scale store?
