Athens Photo Gallery - Corinth

Greece Flag

The ruins of ancient Corinth are 7km from the modern city with excavated areas open to visitors. These include the Temple of Apollo, which dates from the 5th century BC.

Corinth and Athens were once rivals but the city was destroyed in 146 BC by the Romans, who subsequently re-established a colony here, and thrived with trade between Rome, Syria, and Egypt. 2 devastating earthquakes in 375 and 521 cleared the settlement out though.

Also do check out the museum, which has a number of Greek and Roman items.
