Bangkok is a pretty hot place year-round, but they seem to like an outdoor market with no air-conditioning. Geared towards tourists today, Chatuchak is a maze of markets where you can buy everything from pets to furniture with both indoor and outdoor sections. It has 27 numbered sections sorted by commodity type.
A controversial section which I didn't visit is the pet market, where you can find exotic animals amongst almost 120 shops. Critics have lamented they are not kept in the best of conditions, or were smuggled illegally into Thailand for sale.
