Bangkok Photo Gallery - Sampeng Market

Thai Flag

Besides the food market alleys, there is a dried goods pedestrian market street that stretches from west to east across Chinatown with a sprinkle of food stalls. Sampeng Market runs along a narrow and covered street that was once home to opium dens, gambling shops, and other vices.

From the main Yaowara thoroughfare, I head south to Soi Wanit, which runs parallel

I did veer off and onto the intersecting streets to see if there's any interesting retail around.

I would finish this market near the Ong Ang Canal. From here, it's only a short walk to Old Siam Plaza for an air-conditioning break.

This is part of my long morning walk from Chinatown to Grand Palace westwards with a small detour to the flower market.
