Barcelona has amazing architecture, beautiful Mediterranean views, and scenic hills. Unfortunately, the weather did not co-operate during my 2 visits as the typical sunshine that dominates this region didn't stay long. That means I will have to return for a 3rd visit one day. The city's heritage on display ranges from medieval all the way to Gaudi's modern achievements. It is also intriguing to the urban planner. As the city could not be contained within its walls anymore, it expanded in a geometric block pattern in the 19th century. This new urban concept wanted to avoid the high mortality rates and poor conditions among the working class. There were gardens, services, wide roads with traffic circulation improvements, as well as mixing the rich and the poor. Barcelona is a fascinating city worth a week of your time to explore, take it easy, and enjoy.
