Chongqing Photo Gallery - Liangjiang New Area

After successfully viewing the skyline from the southern side, I headed to the opposite side of the Yangtze north of the city centre hoping for similar views. This area is not touristy but there are modern buildings and a nice riverfront walk.

The Niccolo Hotel is situated between the 54th and 61st floors of a skyscraper, so the views will be good.

The hotel is part of the modern IFS development in the Jiangbeizui CBD, which opened in 2017 with investment from Hong Kong developer Wharf Holdings.

Beibin 2 Lu runs along the riverbank heading downstream (north) and there is a good pedestrian path as well to enjoy the scenery.

The major highlight that drew me to this riverfront walk is Chaotianmen Bridge, which has a span of 552m and opened in 2009. Nearly 50,000 tonnes of steel was used, more than the Bird's Nest in Beijing.

Further inland, Beicang Cultural and Creative Street is an example of urban regeneration by turning an old textiles warehouse from the 1950s and 60s into a tourist destination.
