Chongqing Photo Gallery - Laojundong

Besides skyline views along the riverfront, the hillside temple of Laojundong is a good place for a good view.

Located in Nan'an District, there was already a Buddhist temple here since the Three Kingdoms period. It was rebuilt as a Taoist temple during the late 16th century. Various renovations and additions have been made over the centuries, but it continues to operate as a working temple.

It's a well-marked walk with some shade from the entrance to the various temple buildings along the hillside. Even if you are not religious, it's a nice walk and the views are well worth the trip up.

From the city centre, you can take bus 346 across the bridge and up the hills. The stop is a bit further down from the east gate.
