Galle Face Green is a long strip of waterfront promenade that locals frequent to enjoy a bit of the Indian Ocean and to watch the sunset. Built by the Governor of Ceylon in 1859, it was once a horse racing track for the colonials.
Facing west, this is a great spot in the city to watch the sunset. The Maldives will see the same not so far away.
