Deira has a good assortment of interesting souks, or markets. Start at the Spice Souk, which extends into covered alleys from the creekside.

The Gold Souk has some 300 shops along its main arcade, which has a wood roof to protect against the sun. Window displays are opulent, and shoppers come here because prices here are cheap.
