After spending the morning in Mandal, I arrived here for lunch and an afternoon walk. Similar to Mandal, there are narrow streets and plenty of white wooden houses set against a lot of waterfront.
Flekkefjord is about half way between Kristiansand and Stavanger. It traded with the Netherlands quite extensively and there was a Dutch population living here.

The main church was designed by H.F.D. Linstow, who also designed the Royal Palace in Oslo. Completed in 1832, the octagonal wooden church is right in the middle of the shopping street.

During the 19th century, the herring fisheries blossomed and this town became a major exporter of salted herring. In the old Dutch quarter Hollenderbyen are large farmhouses in the classic style that reflects the fishermen's enormous wealth.

Behind the main town are quieter residential areas and some hills. While I didn't have enough time to go up the big one for a panoramic view, I settled with a miniature one just a short walk from the Dutch quarter.

Flekkefjord is yet another nice coastal white wooden house town worth a walk. It feels slightly larger than Mandal with more restaurants and cafes but both have beautiful waterfronts with plenty of space to enjoy them.
