Frankfurt Photo Gallery - Kaiserdom

The red Kaiserdom dates from the 13th century but construction continued in the subsequent centuries. It saw the election, consecration, and coronation of Holy Roman Emperors between the 16th and 18th centuries. Dedicated to the apostle St. Bartholomew, the Gothic cathedral was almost destroyed during bombings in 1944 that devastated the district and rebuilt.
