While I didn't have a particular shopping list for Frankfurt and I didn't come here to drop my wallet, there are a few shopping destinations worth visiting.Right on the pedestrian shopping street in the heart of the city is MyZeil with its unique architecture and Europe's longest unsupported indoor escalator (42m). It opened in 2009 and worth coming in to see its large 8-storey atrium.
I found a surprise at the Galeria department store years ago during a long transit in the city. On their top floor is a viewing deck with free views of the city. While it's not that high up, it was worth coming up thanks to its central location. It's an open-concept restaurant with tables set up outside so you can enjoy a meal here as well. Being a great location, I had to return outside normal dining hours to get up to the front row.
Across the street is the Baren-Treff Der Fruchtgummi-Laden candy shop. This brand was founded in Munich in 1995 and is an alternative to the seemingly more famous Haribo gummies. They're delicious, too.
While I couldn't find a bustling market like La Boqueria, I did come across a more quaint local open-air market just outside Bockenheimer Warte U-bahn station.
