Hong Kong Transport Galleries - New Route Launches in 2024

February 3, 2024 - 230R

Getting to Ma Wan was an adventure in the past. Cars are not allowed in that easily and to take public transit, I either need to take a bus from Tsuen Wan or Tsing Yi or the ferry from Central. In early February, KMB opened a new holiday bus route from Kowloon Station to Ma Wan that operates on weekends and public holidays only. 230R uses entirely electric double-decker buses with a journey time of about 20 minutes.

November 18, 2024 - 49A

KMB launched a new route 49A on November 18 connecting Tsuen Wan West station with Tsing Yi's Ching Fu Court. This rush-hour only service operates weekdays only with 6 morning trips to Tsuen Wan West and 5 evening trips back to Tsing Yi, charging $5.6 for the 15 minute journey.

Ching Fu Court is a new public housing estate with 2868 units across 2 towers that is a stone's throw from the container port, somewhat out of the way from existing residential areas on the island. However, their south-facing units should have a nice view of the harbour and skyline.
