Hong Kong Transport Galleries - 63R Chinese New Year Special

February 2024

63R is a special route run during the Chinese New Year between Tai Po Market and Lam Tsuen for the Wishing Tree.

Local villagers have historically worshipped the giant banyan trees here, burning joss sticks and incense papers. During Chinese New Year, they would put sacrificial offerings on oranges to throw up to the tree branches. This became popular over the years to the extent that the banyans have been damanged and a plastic version is now on offer instead.

In 2024, this special bus route ran from the 1st day of the Chinese New Year to the 15th (promotional leaflet).
