The Chinese University of Hong Kong was founded in 1963 with a 138 hectare campus along Shatin's hillsides overlooking Tolo Harbour. It offers 83 undergraduate programs and serves over 17,700 undergraduates. The full student population just exceeds 22,000. The largest progams by undergraduate degrees are Science, Social Science, Arts, and Business Administration. According to the 2025 QS World University Rankings, CU ranked 36th among over 1500 universities worldwide, the 2nd highest ranked Hong Kong university on the list.
