The East Rail's extension to Hong Kong Island opened on May 15, with trains using platforms 7 and 8 on level 5 above the South Island Line. While that floor has been open for a number of years, the platforms were not. Admiralty station was also expanded with a large atrium section hosting escalators to the Island and Tsuen Wan Lines.
Platform 8 is used for arriving passengers only, while trains will head off to turnaround and pick up passengers on the other side's platform 7.
Different sets of escalators will bring you to the 2 interchange levels for the Island and Tsuen Wan Lines above.
New arrival time displays also have a simulated image of how crowded the platform is.
