Hong Kong Photo Gallery - Kwun Tong to North Point Ferry

Besides the Star Ferry, there are other harbour routes that offer spectacular views of the city that tourists don't seem to be aware of.

Fortune Ferry operates a service between Kwun Tong and North Point every 30 minutes throughout the day. On weekends, ferries stop at Kai Tak as well. This is the cheapest way to cross this section of the harbour by public transport, costing only HKD $8.3 for adults (2026 price). Kwun Tong's ferry terminal bus terminus is undergoing reconstruction, although ferries still stop at the same place in an old building.

Small ferries run on this route with 2 floors of seating. For the journey to North Point, you will see East Kowloon's skyline from the back of the ship. On the right side, you will see the new residential towers rising along the former Kai Tak airport runway.

Behind it is the Kwun Tong skyline, a secondary CBD with far cheaper rents than Central.

Next to the cruise terminal at the tip of the runway is a former COVID quarantine camp that is being transitioned into youth hostels. There is a cheap hotel here as well, but getting here or getting food is quite difficult.

This section of the harbour is not well touristed and there are a lot of residential buildings.

The North Point ferry terminal is in the centre of town with street markets nearby and a newly-opened waterfront boardwalk.
