Introduction
While the first pier was built in 1925, it was subsequently replaced by the present structure in the 1950's. Queen's Pier was used as the official ceremonial pier, being the landing location for British governors on their arrival in Hong Kong, who would then proceed to take their oath of office at City Hall. The pier was demolished amidst much protest during reclamation works in Central, but the structure will be rebuilt on the new shoreline.
