A few Hong Kong retailers have opened retro-style shops to drum up traffic as a local heritage has become increasingly popular.
Wellcome launched a historic supermarket in Yau Ma Tei's Prosperous Garden to celebrate the company's 80th birthday in early 2026. It features decor from the 1950s to the 70s from the patterned floor tiles to artifacts on display.

The chain later refurnished 2 more shops with a retro theme. The Sim City shop in Mongkok features a dai pai dong theme with old photos of a neon-decorated city from the 80s and 90s.

Watsons, a drug store chain owned by Wellcome's rival, also opened a retro-themed store along Nathan Road in Yau Ma Tei to celebrate its 185th birthday during the summer of 2026. They were the first pharmacy in the city to offer Western medicine.
