Lee Tung Street was once home to wedding card publishers. When a redevelopment plan was presented for the 200m-long street in 2003, public opposition was fierce, worried the existing shops will be forced out and unable to afford rents in the new shopping mall. Nevertheless, the tender was awarded to 2 developers in 2009.

3 residential towers called "The Avenue" offering over 1000 flats are part of the project plan. The first 3 batches of 220 units each were all sold out in a single day, and the entire project was completed in 2015. Unsurprisingly, the wedding card shops never returned, replaced by luxury brand stores.
