The South Bank refers to a huge swathe of land on the south side of the River Aire that is undergoing redevelopment. The area previously had various industrial uses such as the Tetley Brewery, there are plans to build up to 10,000 homes across an area from Holbeck to Aire Park and Leeds Dock.By the 1990s, the area around the current Royal Armouries Museum was a brownfield despite being close to the city centre.
Now, it's a built-up residential area although there are still many empty plots nearby awaiting a new life.
