Ai Weiwei: A New Chatpter (March 2025)

Provocative it is, with F.U.C.K. spelled out in front of you the moment you step into the exhibition space.

Ai Weiwei was born in Beijing in 1957 and now lives in Portugal.

Buttons from the closed A Brown & Co factory are affixed to 4 World War II military stretchers to spell out the swear word, representing a connection to the first industrial revolution.

The theme changes in the next room, where military tent sections are sewn with buttons to send a message of political polarization and social tensions. There are also other objects using toy bricks.
