I arrived at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's office building just east of the Tower of London to find this small museum to occupy a part of their ground floor. The professional association was founded in 1841. Back in those times, anyone can sell medicines and there was no regulation. Chemists wanted to change that and make their profession more respectable, which led to the association's creation.
Bear grease was used to rub onto heads to stop hair loss in the 18th century.
These Bohemian glass shop rounds from the 18th century contained various medicines such as oil of grayling to treat scaly skin, hyssop water to treat coughs and chest complaints, and prepared shells.
