Muscat Photo Gallery - Muscat International Airport

Oman Flag

A traveler's first impression of a country is the airport on arrival. Muscat's airport terminal opened in late 2018 and has a capacity of 20 million passengers a year.

Upon dropping off your rental car, you can appreciate the sheer scale of this new building on the departures level.

With many passengers huddling around the check-in area and not enough seats, I went downstairs to a seemingly unknown zone that is labeled as a food court, but has scant options available. This floor between departures and arrivals has tastefully-designed seating, tranquility, and big windows looking into the baggage claim.

After a long line through security and immigration, I emerged air-side into a vast space. The dining areas were still busy and not promptly cleaned by staff.

Do keep in mind Oman's currency exchange rate as the small numbers may deceive you. Also note anything below 1 rial is split into hundreds of baisas.

Dates are a common staple across the Arabian peninsula, and this brand offers a higher-end wrapping to bring home in style.

With many departures to India in the late night, I was lucky my gate was in another pier which was far more quiet and empty.
