Nara Photo Gallery - Hasedera
Hasedera is located south of Nara and is a beautiful fall foliage spotting location with the temple situated along the hillside. It is not so readily accessible, being a good 20 minute walk from the train station through the town.
Hasedera was founded in 686. Visitors need to ascend the hill through covered staircases that emerge to a beautiful lookout at the temple. The 11-faced Kannon statue was carved from a local tree and is believed to have healing powers.
