Numazu is located south of Mount Fuji and an easy way to see this beautiful mountain is to go up the View-O, the tsunami defence structure in the port that can shut within 5 minutes of a large earthquake.
Rising 30m high, you will get a panoramic view of the city. The structure is quite unique with towers on both sides of the port's entrance and a bridge above connecting the two that now serves as a viewing gallery. Admission is a bargain basement price of only 100 yen and there are elevators on both towers.

The Fuji view with the city in the foreground is impressive.
With blue skies, I could see far along Suruga Bay.
The Kano River weaves through the city and empties into the bay just south of the port.
This building's architecture is also quite interesting, and it's nice that they've repurposed it into a tourist attraction as well.
