Battery Park CityWhen it became apparent that the Rockefeller vision wasn't workable within the New York City economy of the late 1970's, a new master plan was developed. The1979 master plan designed by Cooper-Eckstut, saw Battery Park City as an extension of the existing New York City street grid, incorporating elements of the best in traditional New York City neighborhoods, including parks and public spaces. Over the years, Battery Park City has been home to many innovative ideas to improve the urban experience. The concepts and designs implemented in Battery Park City have won many awards, and have attracted visitors from all over the world seeking to learn about urban planning.
