Oman Photo Gallery - Jebel Shams

Rising over 3000m above sea level, Jebel Shams is the country's tallest mountain. Full of beautiful scenery, it is possible to hike a popular stretch, but I opted for a drive up to the best viewpoint instead. While 2WD vehicles are allowed the road going up, a long section of it is dirt track so it is a bumpy journey. A 4WD would navigate these narrow dirt tracks far better, even though the road doesn't require so. Welcome to Oman's Grand Canyon. Satisfied, it was time to head back downhill. By this hour, more visitors were making the trip up. Get here early in the morning.
