Portsmouth Photo Gallery - More Old Portsmouth

From St. Thomas, I would walk back to the Square Tower and go up the walls for the short journey to the Round Tower.

The Round Tower was built in 1418 to defend against a French invasion, and parts of it serve as art spaces now, although its top is always open and offers views of Gosport and the Isle of Wright.

Tower Street and West Street are narrow roads through the historic centre. It is this port that saw the first potatoes and tobacco from the New World.

I then headed back to Gunwharf Quays along Broad Street, which has more historic lowrises.
