Qingdao Photo Gallery - Naval Museum

The Naval Museum is tucked away in a fairly hidden location off the main street. Its outdoor section consists of various military equipment on display and several ships are moored just offshore.

A bit odd to see missiles lined up in the open like this. When I researched this museum, it mentioned an indoor exhibition area but looks like that's the under construction building in thebackground.

This sedan was used exclusively by the first commander-in-chief of the navy.

The hovercraft rests on land with its compartment seemingly repurposed but closed to the public.

The "An Shan" destroyer was built in the USSR and changed hands to Chinese in 1954. It served for 38 years and was visited by many senior government officials over the years.

A submarine lies in a faraway pier but is not open to visitors. The skyline is supposed to be in the background but smog got in the way this morning.

The "YingTan" frigate measures over 103m long and began to serve the navy in 1974. It participated in squirmishes around the Spratly Islands in 1988 and finally retired in 1994.
