Longhua district was established in 2011 and covers over 175 sq km north of the city centre and is home to the Shenzhen North high-speed train station.
Shenzhen Library's north branch spans 6 floors with 2500 seats and a collection of 8 million books. It also has 3 underground floors for storage using an automated intelligent sorting system, taking up an equivalent of 7 basketball courts.
The building, along with the new art museum next door, was designed by KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten, and opened in December 2023.

Across the street is an outdoor shopping mall. Hongshan 6979 is spread over 100,000 square metres next to the metro station. It opened in 2020 during the pandemic with a sunken greenspace where performances are held. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be to shop here during long, hot, and humid summer.
