Stockholm Photo Gallery - More of Östermalm

Östermalm is a neighbourhood in the eastern part of Stockholm's centre. Residential development arrived in the 1880s for the wealthy, and the current district name was adopted to cleanse it of its field-laden past.

With rich residents come various services for their spending pleasures, such as higher-end shops, fine dining, bars, and cultural institutions.

Karlaplan is part of the city's new urban plan that saw toolbooths demolished and this landmark created with wide avenues leading from it.

Filmhuset's Brutalist architecture stands out amidst the classic residential buildings in the area. Completed in 1971, the 6-storey building was designed to look like a camera, and caused quite a lot of controversy at the time.

However, there is a huge park right behind it.
