Sydney Eastern Suburbs Photo Gallery

I walked across the pedestrian bridge from the Art Gallery of NSW and the density suddenly dropped as I entered the eastern suburbs. This is the edge of Wooloomooloo.

William Street is the boundary with Darlinghurst.

Oxford Street was the original main road to the eastern suburbs and became a focal point for military parades and shopping.

Darlinghurst Gaol was the colony's first jail, dating from the 1820s. That function has long gone and the site is now home of the National Art School.

Paddington Reservoir served the city until 1899 and was revitalized into a park in 2009.

Paddington Markets have been open since 1973 and now has over 150 stalls on the church grounds.
