Taichung Photo Gallery - Ao-Feng Hill Park

Qingshui is a distant suburb from Taichung's city centre. Having visited the Rainbow Village earlier in the day, I allocated my afternoon here, followed by Wuqi Harbour and Gaomei Wetlands for sunset. From Rainbow Village, I took the bus back to Xinwuri station for the local train, which takes only 30 minutes to reach Qingshui.

The reason for my visit is to head uphill for a vantage point of the city from a park. From Dajie Road and next to the Land Office, there is a long staircase up to the Earthquake Monument and the park entrance.

This monument commemorates those lost in the 1935 earthquake, which killed 326 here.

Part way up, I noticed the Niumatou Historic Cultural Park, which preserves a Shinto shrine and some military buildings from the colonial period.

The view from up here is already quite nice.

Ao-Feng Hill Park is a typical city park but has a nice-looking platform that offers a panoramic view of the city westwards towards the port. You can't see Taichung's skyline from here.

Satisfied, I headed back downhill towards the main Zhongshan Road for the bus to the port.
