Taichung Photo Gallery - MRT

Taichung's MRT opened in April 2021 with a single Green Line stretching over 16km. It doesn't go through the city centre or its main railway station, but runs along a ring around it, ending at the high-speed train station instead.

Each train comprises of 2 carriages and runs automatically. While there is no driver, a staff accompanies each train while it is in service.

The first few stations from Xinwuri terminus is on an elevated track that parallels the TRA line. You can see the city's skyline from the westbound platforms.

Disaster struck in May 2023 when a construction crane boom fell from a building under construction and slammed onto a train near Feng-le Park station in Nantun District, killing a passenger. The construction site operator was fined TWD $1.11 million for the accident.
