Zhongxin Market was once a busy market back in the 1960s and 70s as it was located across the street from the US army dormitories. As the US switched allegiance to Beijing, the area went into decline. The market was repurposed into an artist space as part of its revitalization, with interesting shops set amidst dark corridors.










Neighbouring streets have a lot of residentials with retail at street level.















To the north of the Shen Ji New Village just off from Zhongxing Street is a seemingly repurposed old building that now houses shops and restaurants.


















Xiangshang Market is a local shopping street that is not on the tourist radar.
