Toronto Photo Gallery - Corktown

The former industrial lands along the Don River has been regenerated into a new housing district and a 7 hectare park. Once an abandoned wasteland with skyline views, this place has rightfully become a vibrant neighbourhood with a short commute to downtown.

The area is known as Corktown, a working class district in the early 19th century with many immigrants from Cork, Ireland.

The Underpass Park utilizes a previously empty space under a road bridge to create a recreational space adorned by public art. It opened in 2012 and is the first of its kind in the city.
