Xiamen Photo Gallery - Xiamen Museum Part 1

Xiamen Museum is a bit of a walk from the metro station, located amidst a set of grand buildings with a large public square. Originally opened on Gulangyu in 1988, it relocated to the present site with 2 storeys of exhibitions.

There building was deserted when I arrived and I started on the ground floor exploring some historic artifacts found in the city from past dynasties.

These Tang Dynasty pottery figurines were unearthed from a tomb in Huli district in 1997.

This celadon ash urn dates from the Song Dynasty.

This is a land purchase voucher from the Yuan Dynasty.

This civil official figurine dates from the Ming Dynasty.

This pottery dog also dates from the Ming Dynasty.

Chinese museums typically have pottery and ceramic collections, and this one is no exception.

They've also re-created a historic market street showing what shops of the day sold.

During World War II, the Japanese invaders issued this pass to allow movement between Xiamen and Gulangyu.

This is the surrender document at the end of the war.
