Xiamen Museum is a bit of a walk from the metro station, located amidst a set of grand buildings with a large public square. Originally opened on Gulangyu in 1988, it relocated to the present site with 2 storeys of exhibitions.I explored more Jingdezhen ceramics made during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Some of these are Dehua wares, which were locally-made and are characterized by a clear and clean white porcelain. These were exported via the maritime Silk Road and also known as "blanc de Chine" by the French.
Jade is also historically a valued commodity in China. These items date from the Qing Dynasty.
These Ming Dynasty paintings and scrolls have also been well-maintained.
Upstairs, there was a good folk culture exhibition with lots of re-created dioramas and very good air-conditioning to cool down from the summer heat.
